Research expenditure classification system (Leistungsplansystematik - LPS)

The research expenditure classification system (LPS) is used to classify the Federal Government's research expenditure. It comprises 21 funding areas, which are subdivided into 59 funding priorities. Institutional funding provided to non-university research institutions is also reported according to the research expenditure classification system.
